Beyond initial assessments, ArtSec also offer a full and comprehensive Security Audit service.
Are you secure?
Hackers and cyber criminals are working non-stop to illegally access private information. The question every responsible manger or director should ask is, ‘are we secure?’
Ask yourself, do you have the right network security in place (including firewalls, proxy servers, encryption, access controls, anti-virus software and log management)? Do you have policies and recommendation to secure your valuable data on external devices such as laptops, Blackberrys and iPhones? Do you have sufficient control over access to your servers (both physically and over the network)?
ArtSec can answer these questions for you and give you the peace of mind in knowing that your information is secure.
A penetration test determines how well your organization’s security policies protect your assets from an outside malicious attack by simulating an attack by a hacker. By trying to gain access to your network and information assets in the same way a hacker would, the tester can asses the ability of an outside attacker to gain access to your confidential information and to what extent an attacker can affect the availability of your services. When conducting the penetration test, the tester will use an established methodology together with security tools and their own experience of networking and system security in an attempt to penetrate the installed defenses.
Using tools and automation, a vulnerability scan looks for known conditions (software versions, configuration settings etc) that are vulnerable. The tools automatically assign a threat level to each vulnerability which is added to the scan report. There is little or no manual verification or interpretation of the test results.
Vulnerability Assessment / Security Vulnerability Assessment
For a vulnerability assessment the tester will perform a vulnerability scan (which is automated) and then work manually to verify and interpret the results using knowledge of the specific context. This includes removing any false-positives and validating the risk levels based on the business needs of the customer. Furthermore the individual threats are manually verified to confirm exposure. The aim is to gain a broad understanding of the system vulnerabilities without actually exploiting the vulnerabilities or attempting to measure the depth of a given weakness.
A security audit is a systematic, measurable security evaluation of how an organization’s security procedures and policies protect the organization’s information resources. Unlike other types of security testing (for example a penetration test), the auditors work from within the organization will a full knowledge of the systems, in order to understand the resources being audited. The security audit can be used to determine regulatory compliance, such as HIPAA and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. ArtSec’s information security division also provides internal audits for ISO27001 / ISMS standards by IRCA certified information security auditors
